tech giant microsoft It’s been found Attacks targeting cryptocurrency startups using PDF files named OKX, Binance, and Huobi.
The title of the PDF file is “OKX, Binance, Huobi VIP Price Comparison.xls”. It also contains malicious code that allows an attacker to remotely access the victim’s software and run Excel macros in hidden mode in the background.
According to the document, Microsoft has detected that an attacker has broken into a Telegram chat group and impersonated a representative of the exchange platform in question.
The attackers were found to have deep knowledge of this issue as well, which they used to gain the trust of various cryptocurrency companies. The attackers then persuaded the victim to download the document in question.
Microsoft also warns that other attackers may use similar methods to compromise systems.
