conflux networkChina Telecom, China’s first regulation-compliant public blockchain and global telecommunications network, today unveiled a jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card at the West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai.
The BSIM card is the world’s first mobile user ID card based on blockchain technology. With almost the same appearance as his traditional SIM card, his BSIM card is fully compatible with mainstream mobile terminal systems such as Android and iOS. It also boasts 10 to 20 times more storage capacity and dozens of times more computing power than traditional SIM cards.
In addition to its traditional communication capabilities, the BSIM card can also generate a user’s public and private keys and store them within the card. By performing digital signatures in a “private key never leaves the card” manner, the card reduces the risk of users’ mobile devices being targeted by malware and virus software attacks. In addition, BSIM cards can also implement encrypted storage, key recovery functions, and integrate traditional U-shield functions. Take advantage of the hardware security of your BSIM card to protect your private keys. This is the most secure and convenient Web3 user terminal entry solution available today.
During the launch event, Dr. Wu Ming, CTO and co-founder of Conflux Network, successfully transferred the commemorative NFT of China Telecom and Conflux partnership by pressing the send button in the app. This was the first on-chain public use of the BSIM card as the NFT was transferred from his BSIM card account at Shanghai Conflux Institute to his BSIM card account at China Telecom.
Conflux’s Dr. Wu Ming said: In the future, all mobile communication users will be able to obtain a more secure digital identity through their mobile device and access the Web3 and Metaverse with minimal technical barriers. Blockchain technology is complex and inaccessible. It has evolved beyond its reputation as a concept into a truly working infrastructure that can be applied to the global economy and people’s daily lives.”
Li Anmin, Deputy Director of China Telecom Group Research Institute added: We will work with Conflux Network to develop and promote practical communication solutions that meet the real needs of our users. This is just the first step in collaborating to explore the diverse application scenarios and complementary products that are made possible by such comprehensive integration.
The BSIM card will be piloted in Hong Kong and then phased in to mainland and overseas markets.
Conflux is a permissionless layer 1 blockchain that connects decentralized economies across borders and protocols. Recently migrated to a hybrid PoW/PoS consensus, Conflux offers a fast, secure, and scalable blockchain environment with zero congestion, low fees, and improved network security.
As the only regulated public blockchain in China, Conflux offers unique advantages for projects building and expanding into Asia. In the region, Conflux has worked with global brands and government agencies such as Shanghai Municipality, China McDonald’s, and Oreo on blockchain and metaverse initiatives.
