Back in July, reddit has leapt into the NFT space by launching NFT avatars for its users. Now, almost two months later, Reddit has announced yet another of his NFT ventures. This time, the social media platform will airdrop a free NFT of her to select users.
An official Reddit team post explains that NFTs will only be given to top users with high karma. In the Reddit ecosystem, karma is a point system that users accumulate by participating in the community by posting and interacting with other users.
Basically, Reddit only rewards the most active people within its community. The Reddit karma system has been around for years and this NFT airdrop is a way to add practical value to high karma scores as explained in the post.
“Today marks a new stage in the journey of the Collectible Avatar. We might finally answer the question, “What are all these Internet points good for?” the post says.
