Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has added a new stage to the Ethereum technology roadmap aimed at improving the censorship resistance and decentralization of the Ethereum network.
New plans for the Ethereum network clearly November 5th Twitter post by Buterin The Scourge was introduced in an expanded six-part technology roadmap.
Continue Transitioning to Ethereum’s Proof of Stake (PoS) Network On September 15th, Ethereum will enter its second phase, The Surge, targeting 100,000 transactions per second through a rollup.
The updated technology roadmap inserts “The Scourge” as a new third phase, followed by the previously known phases The Verge, The Purge, and The Splurge.

According to Ethereum’s roadmap, The Scourge’s goal is to “ensure the inclusion of trusted and neutral transactions, avoiding centralization and other protocol risks with MEV.”
The Ethereum co-founders call for a more trustworthy and neutral consensus layer looks like this: Miners are known to abuse transactions on the Ethereum network. in their favour.
Buterin is Before He described trust-neutral mechanisms as those that “do not discriminate or discriminate against certain people.”
Minor Extractable Value (MEV) Occurs when miners lead other participants in the network by deciding which transactions to put into blocks and in what order.
This allows miners to replicate all winning trades from the mempool and execute trades before arbitrage seekers and profit seekers.
As a result, Ethereum has become associated with a higher degree of centralization and censorship since The Merge.
After the network transitions to PoS, Percentage of blocks compliant with the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) reached 73% on November 3rd. This figure is considered by many to be too high.
Anthony Sassano, Ethereum bull and founder of The Daily Gwei, said in a Twitter post on October 15 that censorship resistance is more important than scaling at this point.
Critical Ethereum Protocol Upgrades Over the Next 6-12 Months:
– Beacon chain drawer
– PBS/crLists/related censorship resistance upgrades
-Proto-danksharding (EIP-4844)My humble opinion – censorship resistance is more important than scaling right now

Details of The Scourge have not been revealed, but the Ethereum co-founder recently proposed a partial block auction solution that would only give block builders the right to decide part of the contents of a block.
Other suggestions for combating censorship at the consensus layer Proposed examples include the Single Unifying Auctions for Value Expression (SUAVE) solution from Flashbots, an Ethereum research and development company.

Buterin also confirmed an update for “The Verge.” This includes the following integrations: Brief Non-Interactive Knowledge Argument (SNARK) Technology to Ethereum.
With the addition of SNARK, Add much-needed privacy protection features to the Ethereum network while allowing anonymous transactions to be traced.
Buterin also said that as a necessary component of the “Endgame” protocol, “a more defined role for quantum-safety” will be implemented at different stages of Ethereum’s roadmap.
