Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays! Joel Astor.
Joel is a contemporary digital artist, master of contemporary surrealism. I was immediately drawn to his enigmatic art style and the way he blended different styles.
Let’s take a closer look at his journey as an artist in the wacky world of NFTs!
How did you find out about the NFT space and what drew you to creating your own NFT?
Since around 2018, I’ve been learning about trading in the crypto world…and one of the first things you learn is to check all the news every morning.
I have been a graphic designer for over 7 years and have always done photomanipulation as a hobby. I love creating scenarios and fantasy situations.
My entry into the world of NFTs has been somewhat hectic. His website, a freelancer I worked for, got scammed and forced me to look for other sources of income. After some research, I found that it is possible to create NFTs. PolygonMatic Network is completely free (I always thought casting was expensive). So I decided to finish some animation art I was working on and minted his first NFT on September 29, 2021 and received a message of happiness just one month later. “Your item has sold!”
That’s when I learned that it’s possible to devote your life to what you love.

How often do you create them?
We make 1-3 artworks every 2 weeks depending on the complexity of the art. If they are animated, it can take up to 3 weeks per piece. This varies, but you can do it up to five times a week if you have a streak of inspiration.

what is your creative process?
If I had to describe my process, it would be like solving a puzzle. Sometimes I start making sketches, sometimes I create mood boards, sometimes I collect resources in my favorite image bank. Start putting all the pieces together until everything makes sense in front of you.

Are there any CryptoArtists you would like to collaborate with?
Many of the artists I admire are both celebrities and up-and-coming artists. But one day I would like to collaborate with the artist who inspired my work, Marcel Van Ruytt.

What do you think the future of CryptoArt will look like?
The future is very hopeful. NFTs are becoming part of everything from movies to music to video games. Even formerly skeptical people are slowly embracing NFTs. It’s worth it just to think that artists can be recognized for what they love and make a living from art. The big advances coming in the coming months are related to AI art.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the second drop in the Life Path collection, which combines my surreal touches with steampunk, the gods of Greek mythology Chronos/Aion/Kairos. available.
With only 100 editions for 0.005 ETH, it’s affordable for those who want it. AION collectors will not only have access to Kairos and Chronos whitelists, but will also be provided with surprise drops in the future.

Where can collectors find your work?
Collectors have access to all my NFT art and social networks here.
