Alibaba Cloud and Avalanche are partnering to create a blockchain-based metaverse deployment platform called Cloudbase, Avalanche said. May 4th.
Ava Labs founder and CEO Emin Gn Sirer said in a separate statement to TechCrunch that such a service would allow users to create metaverses in minutes. he wrote:
You and I can create the Metaverse today. Chain up in 15 minutes. Wallet up and running in hours, turnkey.
In its own announcement, Avalanche said that Cloudbase’s blockchain assets such as wearables and digital land will be built on the Avalanche blockchain.
Meanwhile, Alibaba Cloud, a leading Asia-based cloud computing platform that first partnered with Avalanche in December, provides cloud computing, storage and other infrastructure. Metaverse building platform MUA DAO will also support this project.
The announcement didn’t mention which technologies it supports, but the metaverse typically incorporates virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) into the virtual world.
Avalanche is currently one of the 20 largest blockchains by market capitalization with a total capitalization of $5.6 billion. It made headlines in January when it partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS), another well-known cloud computing platform.
