Catching Up with Decentraland Wearables Creator: DOCTORdripp

When I joined Decentraland, DOCTORdripp was one of the first creators I noticed in the field and the first person I met. rice field. He’s also one of those creators who, like me, is trying to bring his passion for IRL into his web3.

Ultimately, passionate creators like DOCTORdripp will go down in web3 history.

Hello, this is DOCTOR dripp. Please introduce yourself!

hello. DOCTOR Drip, is a skateboarder and general computer geek from Southern California. At work, he creates custom lighting for websites and show cars.big part of DOCTOR Drip The brand is based on my love for what I do: building custom headlights and running an automotive e-commerce website that specializes in LED lighting kits. My professional background consists of working within the streetwear e-commerce space and in many other industries.

Please tell us how you came across the Metaverse. Did it come naturally to you?

I joined Decentraland in October 2021 and within days launched my shiny Backwards Hat wearable. I’ve been using Photoshop since v5.5 (released in 1999) and 3D modeling since December 2020 (when I got my first 3D printer). It felt strangely natural to describe myself within Decentraland, so yes, “natural” is the perfect word.

Do you see any correlation between fashion in real life and fashion in the Metaverse?

Yes, it’s my favorite part of the Metaverse, but that’s because I’m a skateboarder with a background in fashion. I’m here for the perfect drip.

However, the direct correlation between IRL fashion and Metaverse fashion is not the only aspect of Metaverse fashion. With the ability to create imaginative futuristic designs and fantasy designs, we have already seen fashion evolve with the contribution of wearables his creators and game developers.

These dramatic interpretations of fashion are completely disconnected from our real-world interpretations, and may eventually create entirely new styles in the real world.

What is your vision for Metaverse fashion? Do you think the two will mix over time?

I think the evolution of metaverse fashion will depend on how much society accepts blockchain technology. For now, you can enjoy the simplicity of basic 3D design as his NFT, selling it in a casual way.

The next step is phygital design, which bridges the gap between high-end digital design and the world of IRL brands by embedding RFID chips in physical IRL clothing. But what happens after that?

I think it depends on how much decentralized technology is used in the fashion and shopping/retail/e-commerce industries. Combine that with the introduction of accessible and affordable augmented reality and virtual reality experiences for both shopping and socializing, and I think the landscape will change forever.

These days, everyone’s attention is on the magic word utility. How do you perceive it and what is its usefulness to you as a creator?

“Utility” has become a buzzword, so I think this is a lot to unpack. The utility may differ between her NFT project and wearable NFTs, but ultimately the promise to reward token holders. It could be NFTs airdropped for free later, access to buy exclusive NFTs, access to join exclusive parties, early access to buy NFTs, or low price points.

If you’re a musician or digital artist, this could be access to exclusive works to download or use in your projects. Wearables don’t necessarily have to offer utility. Still, art projects that don’t provide utilities of any kind may typically indicate that funds may be cashed out of the project (although utilities donate voluntarily to charities and organizations). may have been). On the other hand, a project that promises utility and doesn’t deliver is equally bad.

Recently, I’ve been interested in Play2Earn wearables, where game developers have created rewards, especially if rewards have already been delivered. If it’s a game that I believe will grow in popularity, having these perks is usually , is a powerful utility for preserving value.

Who are your favorite creators on the scene?

There are many creators I am a fan of! In my collection he has over 2,000 wearables. But I would like to give special credit to those who have created their own designs 100% in-house/by themselves who have inspired me the most: Doki, Nikki Fuego, Michi Todd, Mr. W & Mr. J, Yannakis, Miguel Amargo, Meta Jewels, Roustan, Tangpoko, Arnj Joe, Digifun x Yaping Chen, KJ Walker.

I think Metaverse fashion, which was born out of traditional fashion, is very experimental and cyberpunk-ish in a way. Why do you think all aesthetics are so futuristic?

I hadn’t actually seen the movie Ready Player One until after DCL, so when I saw it, everything really clicked. This beautifully represents that we are in the early stages of our experience. I think a lot of the inspiration comes from that: futuristic, early metaverse/video games/internet/pop culture. is definitely excited.

What is your biggest challenge as a digital creator?

Creating time in a busy schedule and personal motivation. These two things have always affected me to one degree or another.

Market conditions, sales and competition are all temporary, but it is my personal motivation to keep learning and being inspired by those around me. It’s a constant battle as an artist.

Is the Metaverse a full-time adventure for you? If so, what else do you enjoy doing?

Not yet, but I think that will change quickly as more opportunities emerge and my brand solidifies as a heavyweight in the digital fashion space.

Any advice for newcomers? At first glance, all ecosystems can seem a little scary.

For those new to the metaverse, trying to connect for the first time can be intimidating. I found myself floating quietly in the hot tub at a party and not saying a word, and that’s totally fine. After recognizing each other and exchanging greetings several times, the conversation will naturally flow. As a quick fix, find some of her DCL-related Twitter spaces, listen and make a friend or two of her.

For new creators: Don’t worry about sales, especially in a bear market. Create new technologies and keep learning. Be present in the game and be a supporter of others. You are still in the early stages, and a natural opportunity arises for all creators who follow this advice.

You are one of the best creators in Decentraland. Why Decentraland and are there any plans to explore other platforms like Sandbox?

I like Decentraland’s open source technology. Nothing is more decentralized than a platform that offers a repository full of building blocks for creating custom games and user experiences.

It makes learning very easy and is a great starting point for anyone looking to start creating in the metaverse. I will consider creating my designs within other metaverses as they gain traction and popularity, but for now DCL is my home.
