crypto influencer hodlow notebook announced that a Norwegian court has granted Craig Steven Wright’s (CSW) petition for retrial.
The new trial will be a full review, not a final decision review. Unfortunately, Hodlonaut has not disclosed the date of this exam.
CSW vs. Crypto Influencers
CSW began claiming in 2015 that he was the mysterious Bitcoin (BTC) founder Satoshi Nakamoto. The Crypto community reacted harshly to these allegations, accusing CSW of lying and trying to piggyback on Satoshi’s legacy.
Crypto influencer Hodlonaut and crypto podcaster Peter McCormack were among those who rejected CSWs claims. CSW responded to them by filing defamation lawsuits against each of them. He argued that both Hodlonaut and McCormack spurred the cryptocurrency community to reject his CSW claims, resulting in his reputation being damaged. CSW sought compensation for the damage done to his name.
final judgment of the court
The CSW trial against Hodlonaut took place between September 12th and September 20th. The final verdict ruled in Hodlonaut’s favor, stating that CSW lied on his claim to be Satoshi. However, on December 14, CSW appealed his loss and requested a new trial, which was received on December 23.
Meanwhile, McCormack’s legal battle against CSW took place on December 12th. At the end of the trial, the judge implied that he had agreed with CSW regarding damage to his reputation.
However, the judge also said that McCormack was right to dismiss CSW’s claim because he had been unfaithful to Satoshi’s claim. It ruled that compensation of 1 was paid as nominal damages.
The next day, December 21st, the Court announced Its final decision was made formal, sticking to the 1 fee, but also deciding that McCormack would pay up to 900,000 in CSW’s defense. The Norwegian court’s decision to accept his CSW appeal of the judgment on the Hodlonaut case came two days after McCormack’s hearing closed.
Despite both judges ruling that CSW is lying when claiming to be Satoshi, CSW continues to do so.
