Wealthy crypto investors are suddenly moving hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and three other altcoins.
New data from whale research platform Whale Alert found that wealthy traders moved $315 million worth of cryptocurrency in two trades.
The first trade was on January 4 when the whale moved 9,251 BTC, worth about $155 million at the time of writing, was stolen yesterday by a whale. deviated 15,477 BTC worth over $260,891,533 at the time of writing from one unknown wallet to another.
Turning to the leading smart contract platform ETH, Whale Alert moved $40,355,154, worth 32,236 ETH at the time of writing, was sent from one unknown wallet to top US-based crypto exchange platform Coinbase on January 5th.
Other crypto assets on Whale Alert’s radar include XRP, the asset used to power Ripple Labs’ payment platform, Polygon (MATIC), a layer-2 scaling solution, and Curve, a decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol. Includes Finance (CRV).
Notable transactions involving these digital assets include:
- 278,894,905 XRP worth $92,978,005 was transferred from one unknown wallet to another unknown wallet.
- 35,100,000 XRP worth 11,881,715 was transferred from cryptocurrency exchange Bitso to an unknown wallet.
- 30,000,000 XRP worth $10,164,876 was transferred to Bitso from an unknown wallet.
- 40,000,000 XRP worth $13,553,169 was transferred from an unknown wallet to cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp.
- 35,000,000 XRP worth 12,140,436 were transferred to Bitstamp from an unknown wallet.
- 8,228,177 MATIC worth $6,585,305 was transferred to Polygon from an unknown wallet.
- 25,000,000 MATIC worth $20,008,398 was transferred to Polygon from an unknown wallet.
- 57,339,449 MATIC worth $45,890,822 was transferred to Polygon from an unknown wallet.
- 17,000,000 CRV worth $8,976,141 was transferred from Aave to an unknown wallet.
