What happens when Hollywood meets Web3? The original ET model and one-off NFT sold for a whopping $2.6 million at a Hollywood-themed auction. Souvenir set including ET model and NFT, Julien’s auction.
The 1982 blockbuster ET The Extra-Terrestrial remains one of the greatest sci-fi alien classics of all time with fans all over the world. Produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, the film has won hearts and has been a box office hit for years.
The memorabilia set debuted as part of The Icons and Idols: Hollywood Auction collection. Held in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies, the event featured more than 1,300 Hollywood artifacts. The ET models included Rambaldi’s original maquette model of his ET and of course his corresponding NFT.
Sold for $2,560,000. The original first mechatronic ET used to make the iconic movie ET the Extra-Terrestrial.

During the course of the glorious event, the ET set faced fierce competition. The auction also included Daniel Radcliffe’s Nimbus 2000 broom in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Chris Evan’s shield in Captain America: The First Avenger. Nonetheless, the one-of-a-kind ET memorabilia swept the competition and became the most talked about item at the show.
The ET model of NFTs is solid proof that big industries (fashion, music, Hollywood, etc.) see value in Web3 projects. NFTs provide a way to embody a moment, giving owners exclusive ownership and immortal keepsakes.
