Helium (HNT), a decentralized wireless network, will officially transition to the Solana (SOL) blockchain after a community vote upholds the decision.
helium foundation announced On Thursday, the community approved the move with an 81.41% majority vote in Helium Improvement Proposal (HIP) 70.
Scott Siegel, Chief Operating Officer of the Helium Foundation, said:
We have an ambitious mission to deploy and manage wireless networks at scale, and moving to Solana enables us to do just that. It was a natural choice to partner with, as we have a track record of driving several of the following: moving to the Solana blockchain will allow us to focus on scaling the network rather than managing the blockchain itself.
The Helium Foundation first announced its intention to move the ecosystem to Solana in late August, when HNT was trading at around $6.00. The following week, the token plummeted to his $3.33.
HNT has since partially recovered and is trading at $4.67 at the time of writing. The 71st-ranked crypto asset by market capitalization is up nearly 5% over the past 24 hours.
Solana’s native asset SOL is trading at $32.56 at the time of writing. The ninth-largest crypto asset by market capitalization is up more than 5.6% over the past day.
