With the many possibilities opened by ChatGPT, executives within the Web3 space predicted what impact the artificial intelligence (AI) tools developed by OpenAI would have on the industry.
From using bots to audit smart contracts to enhancing user interaction with AI, various executives voiced their opinions on how new AI tools could impact the Web3 industry.
Dmitry Mishunin, CEO of smart contract audit firm HashEx, believes ChatGPT will have implications for smart contract security. Mishnin told Cointelegraph that the future is uncertain, but could go either way. He explained:
AI algorithms can become so deeply integrated into niches that they simply disallow smart contracts that have not passed validation for deployment.
Mishnin said such results would be good in the long run as they would significantly reduce the number of hacks and have a positive impact on the industry as a whole. But management believes things could go wrong in a dystopian fictional way.
According to Mishunin, AI could potentially behave differently, using vulnerabilities and loopholes independently to carry out attacks on its own. This allows you to learn and receive resources for further development.
Meanwhile, XinFin Senior Advisor Doug Brooks also believes that ChatGPT could be used to develop and test smart contracts. But Brooks doesn’t think it will have a direct impact.
While this can improve the efficiency and accuracy of the development process, it does not necessarily have a direct impact on the resulting smart contracts.
Nonetheless, the executive believes the tool will impact user experience. Brooks said the use of AI could lead to more adoption of Web3 because it can provide more intuitive ways of interacting.

Meanwhile, Monica Oracova, co-founder of cybersecurity firm Naoris Protocol, also gave her take on the topic. In the short term, Oracova said, there could be a surge in breaches as AI exposes vulnerabilities that need to be addressed. This “shows where humans need to improve”. Orakova explains:
AI is not human. It misses basic prejudices, knowledge and subtleties that only humans see. It is a tool to remedy human miscoded vulnerabilities.
Nonetheless, Oracova believes AI chatbots will be a “net plus” for the future of Web3. It can be used proactively within an enterprise security and development workflow, increasing defense capabilities beyond current security standards, she added.
