Dutch international bank ING Bank NV has announced a new multi-year deal with payment services company Worldline, which handles the processing and issuance of credit and debit cards.
According to a press release on Monday, Wordline will focus on supporting ING’s issuing operations in the Benelux countries and Germany. ING decided to outsource the process to reduce costs and increase efficiency while benefiting from Worldline’s know-how and technology.
ING and Worldline have been partners in various countries for over 30 years. We are very proud that ING is not only extending this partnership but also expanding the number of countries and services. By outsourcing services to us, ING can focus on: Creating value for our customers by reinventing their digital journey,” said Worldline Chief Business Officer and Financial Services. Deputy Director Alessandro Baroni said.
In different markets, ING uses different payment companies for card issuance. In Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, the international bank has decided to rely on Worldline to provide its clients with access to an expanding list of issuance solutions that are fully compliant with regional and global regulations.
“This deal underscores Worldline’s unique position in being able to support banks’ outsourcing strategies, not just in the Netherlands, but across Europe and beyond,” added Baroni.

According to its latest financial report for the third quarter of 2022, Worldline reported organic growth of 10% year-on-year (YoY) for the three months ended September 2022, with revenue of 1,158 million. Merchant services recorded the strongest revenue growth, reaching 828 million, compared with his 729 million in the same period last year.
This result is in line with the first half of 2022, when Worldline’s revenue reached 2.02 billion, up 12.6% year-on-year.
