Gavin Wood steps down as CEO of Parity, the developer of the interoperable blockchain Polkadot (DOT).
in a new company blog postPolkadot co-creator Gavin Wood says he is leaving his position to devote more time to making blockchain technology more generally relevant.
It therefore means that I have more time to focus on what I enjoy and feel can provide the most value to the company’s mission. The focus again is on exploring how we can contribute to making it more productive, which I believe is essential for the community to provide a true Web3 platform. It starts with helping design and build interesting chain integration social primitives.
Wood, who is also the co-founder of Ethereum (ETH), says his skill set lends itself to more hands-on responsibilities such as coding and design.
The CEO role was not what I aspired to be (this goes back long before Parity). No. A good CEO needs to be much more continuously available to others.
They should enjoy representing the company internally and externally. They don’t need to be bothered with wasting a lot of time in meetings and phone calls because they have tons of colorful boxes on their calendars. ”
According to the blog post, Wood will remain the majority shareholder of the company and will assume the role of Parity’s new chief architect, while the company’s co-founder Bjrn Wagner will assume the CEO position.
