Whales are currently estimated to hold around 9 million BTC, which is a significant portion of the total BTC supply.

  • A whale holding between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC holds 3.6 million BTC.
  • A whale holding between 10,000 and 100,000 BTC holds 1.9 million BTC.
  • Whales holding more than 100,000 BTC hold 3.6 million BTC.

These large Bitcoin holders have a large influence on the market, and such sales activity can affect the price of BTC.

Looking at the trend cumulative scores by cohort metrics, the on-chain grassnode data confirms concentrated selling pressure from BTC whales.
