Developer of Grand Theft Auto, rockstar gameshas updated its terms of service to clarify its stance on NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Basically, it aims to root out third-party servers that try to monetize their products for personal financial gain.
This move is coming after the American rapper.lil darkWe’ve started an NFT pass that gives owners access to private GTA servers. Therefore, they profit from offering exclusive benefits using GTA IP without Rockstar’s consent. As a result, it has earned the ire of gaming giants for trying to protect a highly profitable brand.
Through its updated terms, Rockstar highlighted some concerns about misuse of its property.
“Commercial exploitation, including the sale of real-world currency or in-game equivalents of ‘loot boxes’, the sale of virtual currency, revenue generation through corporate sponsorship or in-game integration, or the use of cryptocurrency or crypto-assets (e.g. “NFT”)”
Following the announcement, Rockstar representatives “took care” of Lil Dark’s servers through acts of “gentle persuasion”.
Rockstar’s parent company, Take Two, is still confident in the future of NFT games. The company continues to invest in a series of his Web3 projects across the ecosystem.
