Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Tether and Bitfinex, has announced the launch of Keet, a blockchain-based P2P video chat app, as the first product in a series of P2P applications.
The app runs on the Holepunch platform and allows users to connect via text, call, or video via distributed technology.
Hole Punch calls this technique “distributed hole punching, which allows users to search and connect to each other using only cryptographic key pairs during authentication.”
Tether Operations, Bitfinex, and Hypercore developers of peer-to-peer, scalable, and cryptographically sound distributed systems have worked together to create Keet. According to the press release, “individual hands.” Ardoino commented:
“Web 1 was the original form of the Internet. It was designed to distribute information and knowledge worldwide, but it wasn’t without problems. Web 2 improved many of the obstacles to the Web 1 user experience. Did
Web2 requires the user to give up control of the data. This has led to the rise of monopolies and heightened privacy concerns.
That’s why Tether and Bitfinex chose to participate in the development of Hole Punch and Quito. We believe that freedom of choice, communication and finance is the lifeline of the future, and anything that enhances those freedoms is worth amplifying. “
Paulo Ardoino, Tether CTO, has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer of Keet, demonstrating the dedication of the top members of the Tether organization to the project.
The hole punch platform can be seen as an attempt to create more than web3. The P2P platform has the potential to pave the way for the new P2P Internet.
Like the popular TV show Silicon Valley’s Piped Piper app, the Keet app is the first application released on the Holepunch platform.
However, this announcement opens the door to a wealth of new hole punch apps in the future. Mathias Buus, CEO of Holepunch Inc, said:
“Rather than relaying communication through a single server like most virtual networks today, Holepunch is an open network of computers that peers can use to discover each other.”
“Therefore, what we have been working on is to create a platform that allows users to access unstoppable applications and provide freedom of speech.”https://t.co/yuFBuWrLPc
