Tezos (XTZ) creator Arthur Breitman says crypto projects that reward people with tokens for basic activities like walking, playing and learning are unsustainable.
new interview Brightman, along with cryptocurrency strategist Scott Melker, said the “model to make money” is flawed and will eventually go away.
I think if you want to make something, you have to give something. It’s based on the illusion that some people think they’re going to win, or if you’re creating new visual assets for your game, you win something.
But trying to make money without providing value to anyone is nonsense and definitely not sustainable. So even if there is an opportunity to make money, there may be job opportunities there, but I don’t think it’s about making money in the future. The killer use case is not making money.
Brightman says cryptocurrency projects based on the earn model have been stalled by speculation. He didn’t name any specific projects.
The problem is someone has to pay for it on the other side. What gives is people buy for speculation.
So basically people make money from inflation and keep it because speculation increases. That’s the dynamics. After a few generations of this, I think people get a little fed up with these mechanics and realize they don’t really work.
