California DMV Drives Car Titles to the Blockchain

Blockchain is still new, but it is being used more and more in the public sector. An interesting example of this is California Department of Motor Vehicles linked with blockchain Tezos and oxhead alphaa crypto company.

Together, a dedicated blockchain system will be developed that will allow car titles and other vehicle-related information to be stored on the blockchain as NFTs.

Efforts on blockchain

The goal of this initiative is to speed up processes such as title transfers. This is appropriate given the DMV’s reputation as a slow and bureaucratic agency.

By recording this kind of data on the blockchain, you are less likely to be tricked into buying a substandard car, for example. The private blockchains produced by this partnership will have enhanced security compared to public blockchains and may also contain customer-facing applications.
