Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays! Say hello to the talented motion designer and artist. Jenni Pasanen.
Jenni is based in Helsinki, Finland, and her unique style is defined by a combination of GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) and her imagination and digital work. By merging art and machine learning, she believes, we can create something more compelling than ever before.
Let’s take a closer look at her art process and NFT journey!
How did you find out about the NFT space and what drew you to creating your own NFT?
I found NFTs because a friend sent me a message saying, “Hey, have you heard of NFTs?” From there I started researching on my own and got hooked. I think what initially attracted me most to this space was the idea of freedom, the freedom to create whatever your heart desires, and one day you could make a living out of it.
My dream ever since I can remember was to become a full-time artist one day, so it dropped my heart. I thought it would take years, but one thing led to another and last year I was able to quit my day job. Now I am living my dream and I am eternally grateful for it. Hehe.
The second thing that drives me every day in the NFT space is the community. The community built around NFT is so kind, supportive, loving, and everyone I’ve met has a heart of gold. That’s what makes this space special.
How often do you create them?
I can do it every day, except when I’m traveling or on days when I don’t have access to tools, but I can say that “not creating” is part of my creative process. It is often misunderstood that having to do something every day is fatal to creativity.
It’s a feeling of boredom that feeds your imagination. Your brain has to get bored from time to time to weave new routes of inspiration. In other words, we create every day, but it is an unconscious creation.
what is your creative process?
My creative process almost always starts with a GAN. Generative Adversarial Networks act as muses and paints for me. The generated images that GANs can produce open up endless realms of imagination, as they can create things I never thought of myself.
By working together with machines in this way, more imaginative works are born. Digital painting is the second stage. After selecting an image from a multitude of generated creations, combine, twist, cut and stretch it to make it what you imagined.
Combining these two like pancakes, sometimes overlapping them, and painting in between will complete the work. My process is based on the intuition that comes from work and points me to the right path, so I always follow it.
The final step in the process is probably one of the most important tasks, color grading. Reveal all the hidden colors and hues that were hidden during your work.
Are there any CryptoArtists you would like to collaborate with?
For everyone with the right boogie and heart in the right place, the best collaborations come when two hearts connect to create something beautiful in one. There are currently 13 confirmed collabs, with nearly 30 more on the queue soon. Little by little, but one by one!
What do you think the future of CryptoArt will look like?
Something very bright and only growing. CryptoArt and crypto are still in baby shoes because crypto is currently unregulated. As more people realize the demise of fiat currencies and the potential and support that the NFT community and technology offer, the masses will adopt cryptocurrencies. This invites the whole world to join the flow of crypto art. CryptoArt is the future.
What are you working on now?
One piece, collections, collabs, one of various small side projects, I can say that there is never a dull moment when it comes to art.
Where can collectors find your work?
The best way to see all your creations in one place is to load them all on Instagram. Other platforms where my work can be seen are OBJKT, MakersPlace, WOV and SuperRare. There are also works and collaborations on various other NFT platforms. link tree.
