Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays, the best part of Sundays! After almost two years of success running this column and supporting the best artists in the field, this will be our final weekly NFT art interview and we are happy to announce that the interview will be held every other week from now on. This is to make room for his NFT photographers who will be launching introductions every other week. A new column will be released soon, so stay tuned!
We are very excited to introduce you to an incredibly mysterious artist this week. LunulaI love her artistic style and color blends, and especially her otherworldly collection, Cosmic Fairies. So let’s find out more about her NFT her art journey and take a look at some of the stunning artwork she’s created so far!
How did you find out about the NFT space and what drew you to creating your own NFT?
About a year ago, I learned about the existence of the NFT space from a friend. After seeing the dynamics of the NFT community, I became very enthusiastic about exploring digital media.
I liked that so many unknown artists from all over the world published NFTs and sold very quickly compared to exhibiting their art in traditional galleries. Artists could access this new realm of opportunity as long as they had an internet connection and some technology.
what is your creative process?
I’ve recently been self-taught, so I used to only do traditional painting-on-canvas types of art. I had to buy a tablet and keep improving my skills. I fell in love with Krita, a free program very similar to Photoshop, and fell in love with digital drawing. So cool to see where my creativity goes!
First line work is usually very quick and satisfying. It feels like the lines are reverse carved out of ether, and I really like it! Also, the coloring part is more difficult because I can’t decide what color to use. There are so many possibilities and I usually love each one! But in the end I decided to go with gold, silver and a vibrant metallic palette on a simple black background.
Are you connected with the NFT community?
After being introduced to Twitter, I fell in love with the space there. Once I got over my shyness, I was able to talk more and make interesting connections! It was fun interacting with diverse souls from all over the world.
The last few times I’ve been in a space that has turned into a profound experience of beautiful souls supporting each other and sharing their vulnerabilities from the bottom of their hearts. Gives me hope!
Tell me more about the Cosmic Fairies Collection.
I ended up creating a 1/1 collection on OpenSea named “Cosmic Fairy”. The usefulness of each NFT is the intent behind it and what the image supports its collectors. Alchemy, unity, brilliance. Each NFT tells a story rooted in mysticism, folklore, and mythology. The Cosmic Fairies collection was born out of my experience with cannabis and hallucinogens. When you smoke cannabis, you often receive images that are etched into your mind until you draw a picture and draw it out.
There is a lot of intention behind the glyph symbols found in Cosmic Fairies. They are representations of the interstellar code of light. Like language, these codes emerge from nothing and are woven into the tapestry of existence.
Drawing glyphs is a meditative experience for me. Feel what you need at each site and move on from there. It’s fun to make while making. Some are inspired by or borrowed from Proto-Slavic glyphs. I ended up putting the same exact sequence of spelling my name on each piece of artwork as a form of hidden signature.
The cosmic fairies were inspired by mythological entities and archaeological figurines, such as the Cucteni Tripilia culture, a matrilineal civilization in present-day Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine. This culture predates the oldest known cities of ancient Mesopotamia! When I saw the statues and pottery of Kukuteni, I felt like my inner cosmic witch had awakened!
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on an NFT depicting a star portal to add to the same collection. Completed the first one named Garden of Mu. We wanted to try something different, so we’re releasing it as a 10/10 edition instead of a 1/1. That way even collectors on a tight budget can access the collection.
Being able to meet collectors and form a community of cosmic witch art lovers is so heartwarming to me!!! The NFT space is a whole new realm full of opportunities and fun connections. I’m excited to see it bring something meaningful out of humanity. Hopefully it will usher in a golden age of art!
