Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin Tweet Today, we hinted that the actual date of the Ethereum merge will depend on the hashrate.
Bordel.wtf previously predicted that the upgrade would occur on September 15th. Ethereum Foundation and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has not insisted on a date, but based on his current hashrate of 879.2, September 15 seems likely. TH/sec.
According to Butterin’s tweet, the terminal’s total difficulty (TTD) is set to 5875000000000000000000.
Once TTD is reached, Ethereum mainnet will integrate with the beacon chain and move from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
a fixed number of hashes remaining
According to Buterin, Ethereum’s mainnet PoW still has a fixed hash.
If the hashrate stays around the current hashrate of 879.2 TH/s, the merge will take place by the planned date of September 15th. However, if the hashrate changes, the merge date will definitely change.
The Ethereum network currently needs to maintain an average hashrate of 872.2 TH/s to achieve a set TTD of 5875000000000000000000 by 04:44 on September 15th UTC.
