The boring Ape Club said in a tweet: “This morning, the official BAYC Instagram account was hacked. The hacker posted a fraudulent link to Copycat. BAYC website Using a fake Airdrop, the user was asked to sign a “safe Transfer From” transaction. As a result, their assets were transferred to the fraudster’s wallet. “
In the process, hackers were able to take control of four boring apes and many other NFTs.
NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unique digital proof that you own certain data that you can buy or sell, such as digital artwork or your first Twitter message.
The four “boring monkeys” stolen are worth about 1 million euros in total. The most expensive of them is the Bored Ape 6623, which was recently sold at 123 Ethereum for around 345,500.
Bored Ape Yacht Club states that you can now access your Instagram account again. The malicious link has been removed. The NFT maker says it is investigating the situation and asks the victim to contact them.
Yuga Labs and Instagram are currently investigating how hackers could access their accounts. Apparently two-factor authentication was enabled and the security practices surrounding IG accounts were very strict.
