The latest in DappRadar report During the coldest winter, the game reveals that it continues to grow. Gaming activity supplements 52% of all unique active wallets (UAWs), with approximately 1.1 million wallet addresses in the second quarter of 2022.
NFT organic sales were down 29% over the same period, while gaming NFT sales were up 19% year-over-year.
Game dApps
According to the numbers, the game has increased its share of blockchain activity by 3% since the first quarter of 2022. As of the second quarter, 52% of all UAWs that create about 1.1 million wallets belong to gaming activity.
Anyway, the bear market has also influenced gaming activities by increasing its share of the UAW as a whole. However, compared to the previous year’s NFT, DeFi, or games, this decline seems to be a win.
The report states:
Games’ share of UAW’s total activity is down 7% from the previous quarter, a slight setback compared to Decentral’s 17% reduction and NFT’s 24%.
On a wider time scale, blockchain gaming activity has increased by 232% compared to the second quarter of 2021, while other categories remain in the dust. “
Due to the surge in gaming activity, Wax has also risen as the most prominent game blockchain in the second quarter.
Wax has been strong since the first quarter of 2021. In the second quarter of 2022, the UAW increased by 14%, averaging 393,933, making it the most popular gaming blockchain.
Hive follows Wax as the second most famous game blockchain in the 283,934 UAW. Since the fourth quarter of 2021, there has been fierce competition between Hive and Wax. However, in Hive, the active UAW has dropped by 16%, placing it first in Wax.
Axie Infinity and Splinterlands
The numbers also revealed that Splinterlands was the most played game in the second quarter of 2022, with an average of over 283,000 UAWs. However, the Splinterlands team has announced a redone of rewards, and the number of active UAWs has dropped significantly, so it is expected to drop first in the next quarter.
When the team announced the rework in May, the game had nearly 400,000 UAWs. As of the end of June, that number had already dropped to virtually 100,000.
At about the same time, Axie Infinity surged in the number of UAWs. The number of UAWs has been declining since January. The fall is mainly due to the attack on the Ronin Bridge. The Axie team is trying to turn things around and convince the crowd that the protocol is still valuable.
The team’s efforts seem to be working, as Axie’s UAW numbers have skyrocketed since falling below 20K in late May. In a month, the number of Axie UAWs increased by 247% to reach 40K.
