The boring Ape NFT whale Franklin lost 100 wrapped Ethereum (WETH) worth about $ 150.000 in a joke bid for the Ethereum Name Services (ENS) domain registered on July 20th.
The joke began on July 19 when Franklin asked his followers a “phrase or meme” who wanted to bid 100 WETH to trigger an ENSBids Twitter bot account.
What phrase or meme would you like the ensbot to tweet as an .eth address in a 100WETH bid? Lol I also have to create the ENS address myself.

Franklin then used another wallet to register “stop-doing-fake-bids-its-honestly-lame-my-guy.eth” and bid 100 WETH from the main wallet.
However, Franklin received an amazing offer of 1.9 WETH (about $ 2,800) from someone else for the ENS domain. He accepted the bid, went to Twitter to celebrate his “victory” and forgot to cancel his last 100WETH offer for the same ENS name.
Well, this is the most amazing 1.891 ETH I have ever made.I owe it all #ENS When @gweiman_ethCreative ideas. # Marketing101 pic.twitter.com/wk6CFBkugx

Meanwhile, in less than 30 minutes, the new owner of the ENS domain name accepted Franklin’s forgotten 100 WETH bid. Basically, I sold a domain name I bought from Franklin for $ 2,800 for $ 150,000.
No, I lost 100 ETH. I was celebrating a domain sale joke and sharing loot, but in a greedy dream I forgot to cancel my 100 ETH bid to buy it back. This will be the joke and bag fumble of this century. I deserve all the jokes and criticisms.

Franklin used Twitter to lament the situation where he tweeted that he didn’t become a “bot” and had “enough time” to cancel the offer.
The boring monkey whale is now trying to recover the lost 100 WETH by refunding the 1.9 WETH obtained from the sale of the ENS domain. However, he admits that there is a “0% chance” of regaining his money.
Here is a summary of what happened. Whatever you sell to my stupid joke bid, I have a 0% chance of getting it back, but I’d better give it a try. I sent them this NFT:https://t.co/PeRU3OIQjr pic.twitter.com/SPmwsSlgIa

8892OS on Twitter account claimed he was a recipient of Franklin’s 100WETH.
I tore this guy at 100eth, and did he just send me another 1.9? pic.twitter.com/TXtBxqvkhB

At the time of the press, it is unknown whether Franklin has regained 100 WETH.
The crypto community reacts
Twitter’s crypto community is divided by its reaction to this situation.
Some argue that the new seller should maintain his retention, while others think Franklin should be reimbursed.
To be exact, 230 ETH I was thinking about the same thing today! Franklin feels very sick and has seen how easy it is to forget or make a mistake. Hopefully the seller decides to do the right thing

Damn this is difficult. I’d like to say it’s messed up, but in a way the person won it. They bet 2 ETH on this play. High risk and high reward. If the bid was canceled and accepted, they could easily have dropped by 2 ETH. I hope you return your money to your family

Some community members took this opportunity to troll Franklin.

DC Investor, an NFT collector, said everyone should learn from Franklin’s mistakes and “respect blockchain as a fiduciary class.”
Respect the blockchain as a trustee, sign 100 ETH from your wallet and don’t joke about things.
Feel the gravity every time you sign something like that
I’m sick of Franklin’s defeat here, but let’s take that as a lesson for everyone https://t.co/aheENKpPrS
