hublotis a luxury watch brand that collaborates with renowned artists. Takashi Murakami in a new project. They present 13 unique Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow Watches and corresponding NFTs. On February 2nd, they presented their first piece at the Glass House in New York City. The rest of the collection will debut at the Watch & Wonders 2023 exhibition in March.
Hublot presents the Classic Fusion Murakami Takashi Black Ceramic Rainbow Watch in a 45 mm black ceramic case. Powering the device with the Unico caliber, it offers a power reserve of 72 hours. The thirteenth in the series is a rainbow watch that Hublot draws inspiration from Japanese video games of the 1970s. The item also includes a dial featuring his 12 gemstone petals in various shades of ruby, sapphire, amethyst, tsavorite and topaz. Its innovative ball bearing system allows the petals to rotate as the flower moves. Hublot has placed the center of the floral smile inside his sapphire crystal for added depth.
With this new release, the watch brand has launched a new venture as part of “Hublot Loves Art!” concept. With this project, the brand aims to mix the art, technology and digital worlds in a creative way. Hublot and Takashi Murakami, known for their smiling flower artwork, collaborate for the fourth time with the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow Watch. The first partnership between the two was announced in January 2021 with the release of Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All His Blackwatch.
The newly released watch is the first of many products that reflect Murakami’s work and positive spirit. However, this new timepiece and NFT set is limited to 12 sets and can be purchased online at Hublot.com for 50,000 CHF each.
The problem is that these sets can only be sold to owners of 324 NFTs issued in April 2022. Only the man who originally owned his two Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami watches was able to make the first purchase and his NFT before hitting the secondary market.
Customers interested in these watches can collect one of the NFTs available on the OpenSea platform from the night of their initial release on February 2nd until the official sale of the 12 new watches. Doing so entitles you to purchase a new matching watch.
After purchasing a new watch and NFT set, customers will be able to trade 12 NFTs on the OpenSea platform for one year. In April 2024, collectors who manage to collect all 12 of these unique NFTs will have the chance to purchase a 13th watch, the Rainbow version. However, if collectors don’t get all 12 of hers, Hublot will auction the rainbow watch for charity.
