Metacask’s highly anticipated barrel auction

The 35-year-old Whiskey Cask debuted at over $3 million, and its auction follows the recent success of the 1991 Meta Cask, which fetched over $2.3 million.

Metacask auctioned the 1991 barrel ‘The Angel’s Share’ in 2021, and now, more than a year later, it’s back for another long-awaited auction.Metacask co-founder and CTO Nim Siriwardana said in a statement.

The latest auction is scheduled on the Metacask Marketplace between February 12th and 19th, 2023. Bids are open against US dollars, but settlement will be either bank transfer or cryptocurrencies.

As part of the sale, purchasers will receive audiovisual non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the original Ruben Flosariato, Metacask said in a press release. NFTs act as digital certificates, useful not only for ownership and provenance, but also for price discovery.

Potential buyers may want to know that the whiskey was finally reconstituted at 51.2% alcohol by volume (ABV), leaving about 495 bottles.auctionhere
