The cryptocurrency ecosystem has been rocked by widespread exploits targeting the Solana wallet, ongoing since August 3rd. Solana Status has provided an update since the exploit began, noting that 7,767 wallets were affected as of 5am UTC on August 3rd. Several wallets were affected across mobile and browser extensions.
There is no evidence that hardware wallets were affected. Users are strongly advised to use hardware wallets.
Do not reuse seed phrases on hardware wallets. Please create a new seed phrase.
Drained wallets should be treated as compromised and abandoned.

Solana emphasized that users move funds to cold storage and create new seed phrases, but owners of nearly 8,000 emptied wallets “treat these as compromised and abandon them.” I was told to.
